BUSINESS LAW
Below are just some of the significant legal categories under which you will find laws that affect most businesses. In addition, laws may pertain to the type of activity involved. If, for example, you are selling shares of stock you will need to adhere to securities laws and if you are operating a business that sells liquor you will need to comply with the state alcohol laws. State laws may also dictate how contracts and legal documents will be written and enforced.
For this assignment: With your Team, you will be assigned two of the major categories of laws that affect businesses
- Investigate the category: Provide a general overview of the law. What does it mean? To whom do the laws apply? Who sets the law (local, state, or federal governments)? Why do businesses need to be aware of this law?
- Give several (minimum of 5) examples of laws that fall within that category: Explain the law and state to whom it applies. What are the penalties for breaking the law? Give examples of businesses that have been accused of violating the law.
- Prepare to teach a 5-minute lesson on each category: Create a demonstration and 3 quiz questions about the category (Quiz questions are turned in separately HERE)
- Present your lesson in class: be interesting and informative
